Charging the 2024 Tesla Model 3 at Home
Most 200A panels can handle this car's 48A charger
The Tesla Model 3 shares the same 11.5 kW onboard AC charger as the Model Y, so home charging setup is nearly identical. The Long Range AWD version has a 75 kWh usable battery — at 48 amps, a 10–80% charge completes in about 5 hours. Like the Model Y, a standard 200-amp panel handles the 48A charger comfortably, and 100-amp panels can support charging at 24–32A with a smart charger set to an appropriate amperage. The Highland refresh (2024+) uses the NACS charging standard natively. Panel footprint is lighter than the Model Y due to smaller battery pack, making it one of the most panel-friendly performance EVs. Cable management matters: the Model 3's charge port is on the driver's rear quarter panel — plan outlet placement on that side of the garage to avoid a cable running across the floor.
